My regular jazz trio with Thomas Fonnesbæk (bass) and Karsten Bagge (drums) is back in action. Recently, we performed a couple of concerts during Winter Jazz around Copenhagen, including one at Trekroner Church near Roskilde. We will soon upload a series of videos on YouTube from that successful concert.
In 2023, we were in Singapore, among other places, to play a concert with the SSO (Singapore Symphony Orchestra) and to record with the same wonderful orchestra. Specifically, we recorded Claus Ogerman’s fine work “Symbiosis,” which Bill Evans recorded in 1974, and Palle Mikkelborg’s “Bill Evans Suite” from 1970, which he wrote for Bill’s trio, based on Evans’ original pieces. Additionally, we played a delightful and sold-out concert at the new Musikhus Copenhagen during the Jazz Festival in July.
Our latest CD “Back2Basics” (Stunt) was named “Release of the Year 2021” by the reviewers at Jazz Special in February 2022. Many positive reviews are cited below. This led to my portrait being featured on the cover of the magazine’s February issue and a large interview at the front of the magazine.
The CD consists of several well-known standards in airy and sensitive versions, along with some less frequently played songs, such as “Edelweiss” from “The Sound of Music.” The CD is titled “Back2Basics” because it is a follow-up to our very first CD, simply called “Back to Basics,” from 2006 (Stunt). This CD also contained many standards.
Previously, the trio was more focused on the pianist’s compositions, as he is a prolific composer. Thus, we have recorded a series of CDs for Stunt, including “Spanish Blue” (with SXTET 2008), “Grains of Sand” (with Mona Larsen 2009), and “Sol” (2012).
On our new CD “Back2Basics,” the trio plays a series of well-known standards. We also perform this repertoire LIVE, spiced up with originals by the bandleader.

Vores nyeste CD “Back2Basics” (Stunt) blev i februar 2022 blevet kåret til “Årets Udgivelse 2021” af anmelderne på Jazz Special. Og de mange fine anmeldelser er citeret nedenfor.
Det førte til at mit portræt kom på forsiden af februar-udgaven af bladet, og et stort interview forrest i magasinet.
CD-en består af en række kendte standards i luftige og følsomme udgaver, med også mindre spillede sange, som fx Edelweiss fra “The Sound of Music”.
